About Marlene Watson
People often ask me why I paint the things I paint.
I don’t have a profound, insightful answer I am afraid to say. I can tell you that I paint the things I notice in everyday life; the things I become aware of and ponder. I notice interactions and I notice moments of solitude. I notice the people that march to the beat of their own imaginary drum. I think that my own thoughts and observations of life are likely not as “unique” as I would like to think and that there are others out there that share and experience them from a similar but personally “unique” vantage point. I commit them to art and share them with others so that we can all smile at the quirkiness of life. You may see yourself, a family member or friend in my art. I may have captured something that is them and causes you to pause and smile. If so, wonderful!
